In the charming town of West Point, Mississippi, the spirit of giving is alive and well, especially as Halloween approaches. With pumpkins starting to dot the front porches and spooky decorations hanging from trees, it’s also that time of year when children begin dreaming about what they’ll be wearing for trick-or-treating. This year, a wonderful initiative is in full swing to make sure every child has the chance to dress up in a costume that sparks their imagination.
The heartwarming initiative is led by the Junior Auxiliary of West Point, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for the youth in the community. They are launching a costume collection drive, inviting the local community to donate new and gently used Halloween costumes for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Whether you have a spooky witch outfit that your child has outgrown or a superhero costume that was only worn once, every little contribution can make a big difference. The initiative aims to collect costumes of all sizes as well as styles, ensuring that there’s something special for every child who may not have the means to buy a costume this Halloween.
You can drop off your donations at GO Finance, located at 6197 US 45 Alternate in West Point. Additionally, you could also hand them over to any auxiliary member. The last day to drop off costumes is October 9.
The collected costumes will be distributed to children in the West Point Consolidated School District, ensuring that every kid gets the chance to dress up and join in on the Halloween fun. Imagine the joy on a child’s face as they proudly don their favorite character’s attire while trick-or-treating or attending a Halloween party!
Community involvement is crucial for making this project a success. If you’re unable to donate costumes, spreading the word to friends and family can also help. The more people who hear about the costume drive, the more children can benefit.
For those who enjoy being updated with local happenings, consider downloading news, weather, and TV apps that can keep you informed about ongoing events and initiatives in your area.
The Junior Auxiliary of West Point is making a heartfelt effort that deserves recognition. Gather those old costumes and bring a smile to a child’s face this Halloween season!
