Columbus, Mississippi, is gearing up for one last warm day this Wednesday! But don’t get too comfy, as colder air is set to swoop in just in time for the weekend. Whether you’re planning to head out for lunch or just enjoy the day, make sure to soak up the sunshine while you can!
As the day rolls on, expect rain to develop around lunchtime and continue into the afternoon. We might see some pockets of heavy rain, but conditions ahead of the front are becoming less favorable, so it looks like we’ll mainly experience some steady rain. In terms of accumulation, we’re looking at about half an inch or less of rain. Nothing too crazy, but enough to keep the umbrellas handy!
As the sun sets, the rain will start to leave the area, but those clouds are going to be lingering for a while. Temperatures are set to drop into the lower 40s, with a chance we could even see upper 30s. It might be a good idea to throw on that cozy jacket if you have evening plans.
Looking ahead to Thursday and Friday, we can expect a gradual clearing. Clouds may hang around a little longer on Thursday, but it’s safe to say that most of us will see some much-needed sunshine by Friday. Highs will hover in the lower 50s, making for a comfortable day to be outdoors.
A shot of colder air is headed our way on Friday night, bringing a shift in temperatures for Saturday. Despite all the beautiful sunshine, expect Saturday’s high to stay in the 40s. By Sunday, we should inch closer to 50 degrees. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy a nice, brisk stroll or perhaps tackle a bit of holiday shopping!
As we move into next week, particularly eyeing Christmas Eve, there’s good news on the horizon! Milder air is set to return, with afternoon highs nearing or even exceeding 60 degrees. That could mean a warmer atmosphere just in time for holiday celebrations! Though we might see some rain returning, it’s a welcome change compared to the colder temperatures we’re experiencing now.
