Starkville and Tupelo See Recent Surge in Domestic Violence Incidents

In recent days, the cities of Starkville and Tupelo have been rocked by a series of alarming incidents related to domestic violence. These events have led to multiple arrests and raised concerns in the communities about safety and the importance of addressing such issues head-on.

Starkville: A Troubling Arrest

On a chilly Monday night, Starkville Police made a significant arrest when they apprehended 49-year-old Donnell Jordan on charges of domestic violence — specifically aggravated assault. Authorities allege that Jordan strangled a female victim at an apartment situated at 500 Louisville Street. Fortunately, the victim received prompt medical attention at the scene and was later released.

Following the incident, Jordan was taken to the Oktibbeha County Jail, where he is awaiting further proceedings. The police are actively investigating the situation.

Tupelo’s Response

Meanwhile, in Tupelo, another domestic violence case has come to light. In a separate incident, police arrested 28-year-old Malleck A. Awad after responding to a report of domestic violence on Ridgecrest Drive. This shows the urgency with which local law enforcement is approaching these serious matters. Police are committed to ensuring that victims receive the support they need and that offenders face appropriate consequences.

Oxford Police Make Arrests

Turning our attention to Oxford, police there have also been busy. Officers took 28-year-old Ja’Riant Stokes into custody linked to a domestic violence investigation stemming from an incident that occurred on November 24. This is just one of several recent cases concerning domestic disputes in the area.

Moreover, the Oxford Police Department has arrested 39-year-old Ben Mikell in connection with an ongoing stalking investigation. This incident underscores that threats to safety can take many forms.

Auto Burglaries and Shoplifting in Starkville and Tupelo

Shifting gears a bit, Starkville Police have made further headlines by arresting 31-year-old Devon Riley in relation to a string of auto burglaries in residential neighborhoods north of Highway 182. Residents in these areas are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Tupelo has also been buzzing due to a recent arrest connected to two felony shoplifting incidents that occurred earlier this year. A local vape shop reported theft, which has sparked an ongoing investigation by the authorities.

Community Safety is Key

As these incidents unfold, communities in Starkville, Tupelo, and Oxford are reminded of the importance of looking out for one another. Domestic violence is a serious issue that can affect anyone.
