In the city of Starkville, residents are not alone. An event by the name of ‘Starkville in the Spotlight’ was recently held, promoting the availability of resources for local residents and inviting everyone to discover and explore them with ease.
The event took place at the Starkville Sportsplex where more than 80 vendors were present to answer questions and discuss their offerings. The vendors ranged from small businesses to educational and volunteer organizations eager to engage with locals, providing valuable resources and guidance to all attendees who ranged in age from young adults to seniors.
Adding to the blend were city and county agencies, openly communicating with residents and effectively demonstrating their commitment to community service. Their presence not only helped residents feel more connected with their community, but it also provided an excellent opportunity for residents to gain direct insight into local government operations and initiatives.
This is the second consecutive year that the event has been held, hosted by the Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District’s Discovery Center. Based on its success, it is expected to continue annually, furthering community ties and promoting local resources.
Starkville in the Spotlight is elevating the sense of community and unity within the city. With such a diverse range of agencies, organizations, and businesses coming together under one roof, residents are given the chance to engage directly with these resources, enhancing their knowledge and connection to their local community.
We are always on the lookout for local news, events, and happenings. Community members wanting to contribute or folks from within and outside Starkville are welcome to share their stories. For 24/7 news and updates, follow us on social media.
