Starkville Habitat for Humanity Restore has successfully reached its $1 million project goal this month and is prepared to build new homes for deserving families.
One such recipient is Starkville resident Twana Hubbard. Recounting her story, Hubbard shared, “In 2019, my roof fell in, and I was like ‘Oh lord, what am I going to do?’ So, when that happened, I called Habitat.”
John Breazeale, the Project Construction Manager, acknowledges that the creation of these homes would be impossible without a collective effort. Noting the role of the ‘Restore’ initiative, Breazeale explained, “The restore has been critical for cash flow and being able to put all the materials and subcontractors into the next home. Its outcome has far outperformed anything I expected.”
Habitat’s mission not only aims to support families in need but also contributes positively to the community. Breazeale emphasized, “We’re creating new taxpayers and many of the county and starkville city officials have been very supportive of us and what we’re doing. That’s a fantastic collaboration.”
Habitat Executive Director Amanda Henry expressed a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to the community, citing their support and generosity in terms of time and money as the backbone of the project’s success.
Through their project, Starkville Habitat for Humanity Restore reaffirms their commitment to providing safe, comfortable, and stable homes for those in need. As they look forward to future endeavors, their success story of achieving a $1M goal ensures continued trust and support from the community.
