Starkville Habitat for Humanity Restore Reaches $1 Million Fundraising Goal

Fundraising milestone celebration scene.

Following a dedicated campaign, the Starkville Habitat for Humanity Restore has reached its $1 million fundraising goal to provide new homes for families in need. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone in their efforts to alleviate housing concerns in the Starkville community.

Among the excited future homeowners is Starkville resident, Twana Hubbard. In 2019, she found herself in a crisis when her roof collapsed. Twana reached out to the Habitat for Humanity Restore and was registered on their list for a new home. Her joy knew no bounds when she was notified of her disaster-stricken home’s replacement.

John Breazeale, Project Construction Manager, credited the Restore for its critical role in cash flow. Supporting the purchase of materials and hiring subcontractors, the Restore has far exceeded expectations in its performance over the past four years.

Besides providing safe homes for families in need, such initiatives also contribute to the community’s socioeconomic dynamics, creating new taxpayers in the process. Breazeale highlighted the Starkville city officials’ supportive stance in their endeavor and regarded the collaborative effort as incredibly positive.

The Habitat Restore’s work in Starkville stretches over almost four decades. The impact is not only immediate but also generational. Families who had benefited from the project continued to flourish, including children who were brought up in these homes, who are now adults and have their own families. The project’s broader perspective reveals a heartening picture of stability and growth.

Families like the Hubbards, who are part of a new Habitat home subdivision, are only one part of this story. As the Habitat Restore’s efforts continue, Executive Director Amanda Henry thanked the Starkville community, volunteers, and employees for their support and generosity.

With the $1 million project goal achieved, there is immense potential for expanding the program. Hubbard’s new home, symbolic of hope and a fresh start, is expected to be ready before the upcoming holiday season, spreading festive cheer across Starkville. Meanwhile, the Habitat Restore continues to stride forward in its mission to provide safe, secure homes to the local community.
