Starkville Hosts Thrilling Double Dawg Dare Disc Golf Tournament and Showcases Growing Interest

Starkville has hosted another exciting installment of its annual Double Dawg Dare disc golf tournament, drawing in over a hundred competitors from both professional and amateur domains. This thrilling doubles tournament took place at two local sites: Mississippi State University’s Wise Center course and Lakeside Landing.

106 golfers took their chances in seven divisions, showcasing the appeal and rapidly growing interest in disc golf.

Brothers Taylor and Tyler Williams dominated the Mixed Pro Open field, ending 33 under par with 60 points each, cementing first place. The second place was a split between the team of Sean Portilla and Dylan Lomax, and another team consisting of John Blount and Kyle Gray. These skilled competitors finished at -30.

In the Mixed Pro 40+ category, it was Kevin High and James Alston who took home the gold finishing at -21. They triumphed over two other teams, Keith Spotts and Tony Phillips who were second, while Christopher Wilton and Leland Mast who came third. Separated by just a mere 2 points, the finishing scores for the second and third places were -20 and -19, respectively.

The Mixed Amateur 40+ division saw David Cameron and Todd Loper clinch the top spot with a score of -27. This gave them a three-shot lead over second-placed locals, Andy Hunt and Jeb Cade.

Other victors from the weekend included Evan Rowland and Russ Cain in the Mixed Amateur 1 division, Robert Bourg and Caleb Lindley in Mixed Amateur 2, Daniel Saucier and Joshua Bruce in Mixed Amateur 3, and the duo of John and Johnny Cassibry in Mixed Amateur 4.
