Starkville Seeks Community Input on Development Code Updates
Starkville is gearing up for two important public hearings that will allow discussion and feedback on proposed updates to the Unified Development Code. Whether you’re a property owner, business operator, or just interested in local issues, your voice matters!
What’s on the Agenda?
The planned amendments cover several areas of the city’s legislation. Some of the key points include:
- Correcting the Side Setback in the T-4 zoning district, ensuring clarity regarding fence and flower bed placements.
- Adding Dimensional Standards for Multi-Plex Dwellings in both C and CN zoning districts to clarify housing requirements.
- Clarifying the Use of Retail Sales and Services, including updates for Convenience Stores and Gas Stations, informing which businesses can thrive in various areas.
- Updating Landscaping Development Standards for a more visually appealing Starkville.
- Revising Common Area Requirements in the Subdivision Standards to encourage community-friendly spaces.
- Updating Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance for safety against unpredictable weather events.
- Updating Types of Work that Require a Permit to simplify processes and improve compliance.
The sections affected by these updates include Sections 5, 6, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17. The Board of Aldermen recognizes these changes could impact many aspects of life in the community, making public feedback essential.
