Farmers will have the flexibility of a one-year lease to get their hay-growing initiatives off the ground, with an option to renew if they hit their production goals.

The Ground Rules

Now, before you get too excited, it’s essential to note that all hay bales produced from the leased land must be moved to a designated area within 5 days of bailing. Also, when the lease ends, farmers will need to ensure the land is returned to its original condition. If it hasn’t been used for hay, they’ll need to disk it flat. So, it’s crucial to keep the airport’s land looking its best!

What Happens Next?

After all proposals are submitted, they will be opened publicly during the Regular Monthly Starkville Airport Board Meeting. The Starkville Airport Board will review all the bids and make its recommendations during the March 18, 2025, Board of Alderman Meeting. This is where the excitement will continue to build!
