This dynamic duo is set to take Regents athletics to the next level!

The Search is Finally Over

After an extensive search that involved a careful review of a highly qualified pool of candidates, the hiring committee had a tough but exciting job. Their commitment to finding the right fit for the school’s athletics program paid off with the selection of Buckner and Pearson, both of whom have impressive track records and share a vision that aligns perfectly with the mission of Regents School.

Luke Buckner: The New Director of Athletics

Buckner, who has previously served as the Interim Athletics Director, comes with a wealth of experience. With 12 years under his belt in various athletic roles, he has already made a name for himself by leading teams to state championship games and division playoffs. In his new role, Buckner will oversee 13 different sports and manage a team of over a dozen staff members from different divisions within the school.

His passion for excellence is evident, and it’s no wonder he has been recognized as an MAIS Basketball All-Star Team Coach. Buckner started his career in 2012 at Starkville Christian School, eventually becoming the Athletic Director from 2016 to 2020. In 2020, he joined the fantastic team at Regents School where his journey continues to flourish.

As a graduate of Mississippi State University with a Fine Arts degree, Buckner is not only a dedicated athletic leader but also an active member of the community, involved with Pinelake Church. He shares his life with his wife Caitlyn and their two wonderful kids, Ocean and Everest. The family is likely to make a significant impact on the school’s community.

Meet JoJo Pearson: The New Assistant Athletic Director

Joining Buckner is JoJo Pearson, stepping into an expanded role after making a significant impact as the Head Football and Track & Field Coach since 2023. With previous experience serving as Head of School and Athletic Director at Calhoun Academy, Pearson brings a wealth of knowledge to the table, making him a fantastic addition to the team.

Pearson holds a B.A. in Philosophy & Religious Studies from Ole Miss and a Master’s Degree in Education from Mississippi College. His academic credentials complement his hands-on coaching experience, allowing him to excel in guiding young athletes both on and off the field.

He is married to Leanna, and they have a son named Kylar, who is already a member of the Regents community. The Pearson family is looking forward to contributing to the vibrant life at the school.
