The Partnership Middle School 7th grade Math Team has excelled by securing 10th place at the Mississippi School for Math & Science Math Tournament, competing against primarily high school students. Their participation marked a significant achievement as first-time competitors, showcasing teamwork and mathematical talent in a challenging environment. In a heartwarming display of talent and teamwork, the Partnership Middle School (PMS) 7th grade Math Team has earned a remarkable 10th place finish at the prestigious Mississippi School for Math & Science Mu Alpha Theta Math High School Math Tournament! This exciting event took place on Thursday, March 3, 2025, and brought together some of the brightest young minds from all over the state. What makes this achievement even more impressive is that the competition primarily involved high school students from a total of 24 different schools.
For the PMS team, this was the very first time they participated in such a significant math competition. The excitement and nerves of stepping onto this stage were palpable, but the students rose to the occasion with confidence and enthusiasm. The event boasted a whopping number of over 420 mathletes, showcasing a wide range of skills and challenges. Participants engaged in various activities, including ciphering challenges, written tests, and even a mini-interschool competition. There was something for everyone, including the unique and fun potpourri round that kept competitors on their toes!
The talented team members representing PMS included Aiden Rhee, Justin Chung, Effia Wu, and Minjeong Kim. These young mathematicians did an incredible job navigating the pressures of competition and proudly showcased their skills. Throughout the tournament, they worked together to tackle challenges and support each other, ultimately leading to their outstanding placement amongst high school competitors.
