Over 200 acres of parkland in Starkville are home to community and neighborhood parks, playgrounds, athletic facilities, indoor basketball courts, a swimming pool, a splash pad, pavilions, meeting places, and more. George Evans Park
It houses the Needmore Center, which is located at 610 East Gillespie Street and has basketball courts and playground equipment.
400 North Long Street is the location of J.L. King Senior Memorial Park. It features an unlighted multipurpose/football field, a lit 300-foot softball/baseball field with an adjacent pavilion and toilet, two newly refurbished basketball courts, a splash pad, and a 7-hole disc golf course. A playground and the J. L. King Center are also located here.
Josey Park
This little park has green space and playground equipment. No facilities are provided.
McKee Park
Six youth baseball fields, three tennis courts, four outdoor pickleball courts, Starkville’s largest playground, the Kidplex, a musical path, and one basketball court are all located in this park. A centralized concession stand, two pavilions, and two bathroom facilities are among the structures.
Moncrief Park
The park includes playground equipment, a pavilion with bathrooms, a playground, a sand volleyball court, the Moncrief pool, and Starkville’s Dog Park.
Patriots Park
It is located at the intersection of Whitfield Street and Avenue of Patriots. This community park has a pavilion as well as playground equipment. There are no facilities available.
The Starkville Sportsplex
It is located at 405 Lynn Lane. It has eight softball fields, two restrooms, seven soccer fields, and the Travis Outlaw Center, which includes two indoor basketball courts, an indoor walking track, two conference rooms, an aerobics room, two racquetball courts, and SPRD staff offices.
Fire Station Park (Lampkin St)
The Greater Starkville Development Partnership leases this park, which hosts the Community Farmer’s Market and other activities.
Cornerstone Park
Cornerstone Park is a brand-new sports complex about to open in Starkville! It will have ten ball fields, two T-ball fields, a pavilion, and a green space area, as well as a walking track that will circle the entire complex. Cornerstone is currently under construction located on South Highway 25.
A number of local schools playgrounds are open to the public after 4 p.m. on weekdays and weekends, in addition to these parks. Please note that there are no bathrooms available at these locations. Among them are Overstreet Elementary (Green St) with Playgrounds and a multi-use field/green space, and Henderson-Ward-Stewart Elementary (Pilcher St) with a playground, basketball court, and multi-use field.
