STARKVILLE, Miss. – In the heart of any collegiate town, establishing firm relationships between law enforcement agencies, first-responders, and the student community is considered paramount. The Mississippi State University Police Department hosted a noteworthy event aiming to facilitate this association.

Meet and Greet Initiative

The MSU Police Department spearheaded a meet-and-greet event for students to interact with first responders from across the locality. The event was held on Friday, Aug. 23 between 10 a.m. to noon outside the MSU Police department premises.

Building Bridges

Assistant Chief of Police at MSU, Brian Locke emphasized on the significance of this event as a platform for achieving rapport and establishing connections with students. He expressed his belief that it is crucial for the students to meet and familiarize themselves with all the local first responders, who not only cater to the MSU but also to neighboring areas like Oktibbeha County. These first responders add value to the community by ensuring safety and security at everyday events, athletic activities, special occasions, etc.

Paying tribute to the selfless service of these first responders, the event also served as an opportunity to thank them for their consistent support and assiduous dedication.
