In what looks to be a boost for furniture enthusiasts and local economy alike, Miskelly Furniture is gearing up to soft launch in a former Vowell’s Marketplace site in Starkville come July 15. The Pearl-based furniture store is set to be the dominant tenant in a multi-shop development riding on the wave of new businesses setting up shop in the growing city.
The sprawling 35,000 square foot space on Highway 12 will play host to Miskelly Furniture’s new outpost, taking over the premises from Vowell’s Marketplace, which closed its shutters last year. While the area faced a short period of dormancy, the transition to a new era of retail has been swift. The property was purchased in 2021 by 44 Properties, a company owned by Roy Oswalt. The redevelopment of the site into three distinct retail spaces presents a fresh take on the use of the space while retaining its heritage as a place of commerce.
In addition to Miskelly Furniture, the revamped location will accommodate Ace Hardware and a yet-unnamed third tenant. A previous plan pointed towards Dollar Tree as the third occupant, but Oswalt had decided to venture in another direction for the remaining space.
The arrival of Miskelly Furniture and Ace Hardware outlines a new chapter in Highway 12’s retail scene, promising consumers with more choices and injecting diversity into the local business ecosystem. It also creates job opportunities for the public, with Miskelly Furniture actively hiring to staff its new store.
The soft opening, set for the middle of July, serves as a chance to introduce the new store to locals, effectively building anticipation for new and loyal customers alike. A comprehensive renovation has been underway to provide patrons with an unmissable shopping experience that combines a fusion of traditional and modern elements, raising expectations for this up-and-coming retail hub.
With the announcement of the soft opening, the countdown has started for the much-anticipated debut of Miskelly Furniture in Starkville. The forthcoming opening is bound to spark interest among furniture aficionados and retail enthusiasts alike, while adding to the dynamism of the town’s local economy.
As Miskelly Furniture moves into its new home, the community waits in anticipation of what it will bring to the table. As the anchor tenant of what will be a revived retail destination on Highway 12, massive expectations are on this newcomer. No doubt, all eyes will be on this new addition as it opens its doors for the first time on July 15. Starkville’s residents and visitors alike look forward to discovering what’s in store.
