Ludacris to Headline at Bulldog Bash in Starkville
This October, multi-talented hip-hop artist and actor Ludacris is set to ignite the stage at Mississippi State University’s Bulldog Bash. The event will take place at the bustling intersection of Jackson and Main streets in downtown Starkville, bringing a dynamic blend of music, art, and community spirit.
Bulldog Bash Event Details
The free concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 4, with Ludacris set to take the stage around 9:15 p.m. The opening act will be the winner of this year’s Battle of the Bands, which is to be held at 6 p.m. Saturday in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium.
Bulldog Bash begins earlier on Oct. 4, with the Maroon Market opening its doors at 3:30 p.m. Here, the community gets to enjoy performances by local artists, an array of artwork for purchase, a variety of food vendors, and a dedicated kids’ zone. This grand event is sponsored by MSU’s Student Association and promises to be a celebration of the Starkville fabric.

Ludacris, with more than 24 million albums sold, will certainly add significant flair to this year’s Bash. Starting his journey in Illinois before moving to Atlanta as a teen, Ludacris rose to fame with his particular brand of hip-hop. His list of success includes producing five No. 1 hits and 18 Billboard Top 10 songs, testifying to his long-standing influence in the industry.
From stand-out tracks such as “Stand Up,” “Get Back,” “Southern Hospitality,” “Number One Spot,” “Money Maker,” and “My Chick Bad,” Ludacris has consistently delivered chart-topping music. Albums like “Back for the First Time,” Billboard’s No. 3 “Word of Mouf,” and Billboard’s No. 1 “Chicken-N-Beer” have become cornerstones of his journey. In 2006, his album “Release Therapy” topped the charts and earned him a Grammy, further substantiating his musical prowess.
His talent also extends to acting roles, including the character ‘Tej’ in the “Fast & Furious” series, as well as appearances in 2005’s “Hustle & Flow” and “Crash,” which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2006.
Motivated by his daughter Karma, he created the animated series “Karma’s World” in 2009, a warm and inspiring children’s coming-of-age story about a young Black girl finding her voice to change the world.
