Starkville, heart of the Magnolia state, is teeming with excitement, as it anticipates the return of the three-time Grammy award-winning Hip-hop artist, Ludacris, this October. Renowned globally for his pulsating music and powerful lyrics, Ludacris is set to be the headline act at Mississippi State University’s celebrated festival event, the Bulldog Bash.
The Bulldog Bash will unfurl at the vibrant intersection of Jackson and Main streets in downtown Starkville. A myriad of festivities will kick-start at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, transitioning into the free concert set to begin at 7 p.m. Ludacris, the star of the evening, is expected to take center stage around 9:15 p.m.
The honor of opening for Ludacris at the Bulldog Bash falls to the zealous winner of “Battle of the Bands”. This competition is sponsored by MSU’s Music Makers Productions, and the final showdown among the competitors takes place at 6 p.m. on the previous Saturday in Lee Hall’s Bettersworth Auditorium.
Beyond the music and festival atmosphere, the Bulldog Bash hosts the Maroon Market, opening its stalls simultaneously with the concert at 3:30 p.m. The market teems with local artists showcasing their work for purchase, delicious food vendors catering to every palate, and a comprehensive kids’ zone. The event is seamlessly organized and brought to life by MSU’s Student Association.
Ludacris, having sold over 24 million albums, is an eminent chart-buster with an illustrious career spanning both music and film. A resident of Illinois during his early years, he moved to Atlanta during his teens, where he honed and unleashed his considerable musical prowess. With five No. 1 hits and 18 Billboard Top 10 songs, his distinct musical style has won him both significant acclaim and a devoted fan base. Some of his noted tracks include “Stand Up,” “Get Back,” “Southern Hospitality,” “Number One Spot,” “Money Maker” and “My Chick Bad.”
The rapper-turned-actor is known for his roles in the esteemed “Fast & Furious” series, 2005’s “Hustle & Flow”, and the Academy award-winning “Crash.” Ludacris also established the eponymous Ludacris Foundation in 2001 which targets the upliftment of Atlanta’s youth.
