Joyful Holidays Ahead: Columbus and Lowndes County Prepare for Festive Celebrations and Important Service Updates

Joyful Holidays Ahead in Columbus and Lowndes County!

As the holiday season approaches, residents of Columbus and Lowndes County are gearing up for some festive fun. The local municipal offices have announced their holiday schedules, letting everyone know when they’ll be closed for celebrating.

Holiday Closure Schedule

Both municipal offices will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday for Christmas, as well as on January 1 in observance of New Year’s Day. This is the perfect time to enjoy some holiday cheer with family, friends, and those delicious baked goods. Plan accordingly if you need any services from the city or county.

What About Garbage Collection?

For those who rely on garbage collection services, Golden Triangle Waste Services will be closed on Wednesday. Because of this holiday closure, collection will be delayed by one full day. If your garbage is usually picked up on Wednesday, expect it on Thursday instead. Just think of it as a little extra time to tidy up before your collection day.

Special Newspaper Edition

The Christmas edition of the local newspaper will be hitting the stands on Tuesday, but fans of the news will have to wait until Thursday for the next edition. This means you’ll have all the best holiday stories in one special release—perfect for perusing as you sip on hot cocoa.

Supporting Local Journalism

It’s also important to think about the community. Local journalism plays a critical role in keeping everyone connected and informed, particularly during these busy times. A subscription costs just $2.30 per week, a small amount for a great benefit to stay updated on all things happening in the Golden Triangle area.

Keep in Touch

If you need to reach out to the municipal offices, the main switchboard can be contacted at (662) 328-2424. The physical address is 516 Main Street, Columbus, MS 39701. If you prefer to send some mail instead, the mailing address is PO Box 511, Columbus, MS 39701.

Enjoy the Holidays!

As everyone gears up for Christmas and New Year celebrations, keep these schedules in mind to avoid any surprises. Whether it’s picking up gifts, wrapping presents, or spending time with loved ones, take a moment to soak in the joys of the season. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year full of warmth, joy, and plenty of holiday spirit!
