There’s exciting news buzzing from Starkville as Harbor Freight, the renowned tool and equipment retailer, plans to open a new location in the city. City Planner Daniel Havelin confirmed that the outfit has filed for a building permit which is currently under review by the city authorities.
The Starkville location will occupy the space left by the outgoing Home Store Furnishings at the Middleton Court shopping center. Harbor Freight has over 1,500 branches nationwide and offers more than 7,500 tools and products. Its arrival in Starkville is expected to further diversify the city’s economic landscape.
In other business news in the city, the 929 Coffee Bar served its last latte at its East Main Street location with plans to relocate to a new spot. Even as the company remains tight-lipped about the details of its fresh location, loyal patrons anticipate the grand reopening promised in a recent online post from the business.
The Breakfast Club, a local favorite, is also ready to serve patrons from a familiar location, its original spot at 105 Eckford Drive. The establishment closed doors on Friday at its Research Park location, with the reopening date at the Eckford Drive not yet announced.
The city of Starkville will also taste a glimmer of Hollywood stardom as Xover0, an accessory firm based in the city, is set for a Netflix film debut. The much-anticipated movie, “Uglies,” will feature the company’s signature geohart pendant. The co-founder of Xover0 expressed excitement about the movie debut, terming it as a proud moment and an opportunity to showcase Mississippi’s creative talent.
Another notable business shift involves West Coast Furniture Framers, originally based in California. The company’s owner, Javier Galiana, recently purchased the former American Trouser property signaling a shift in operations to Starkville. The furniture firm previously worked with United Furniture Industries and Lane Furniture, now defunct, specializing in upholstered furniture at affordable rates. The company is also considering a name change, alongside kick-starting its operations in the Friendly City.
Business enthusiasts in the city and surrounding areas should anticipate these changes with excitement and watch out for more updates as details emerge.
