Harbor Freight Announces New Location in Starkville

Harbor Freight, the popular tool and equipment retailer, has announced plans to establish a new location in Starkville. The California-based business has more than 1,500 locations nationwide and boasts an impressive inventory of over 7,500 tools and products.

The new Starkville store will be located at 311 Hwy. 12 W., replacing the currently vacating Home Store Furnishings in the Middleton Court shopping center. City Planner Daniel Havelin confirmed that the company’s building permit is currently under review.

For the uninitiated, Harbor Freight started its journey in 1977 in North Hollywood. Founders Eric Smidt and his father Allan successfully expanded their business across the nation. Although limited information regarding the opening date of the Starkville location is available, the community is eager to welcome the new retailer.

Local Business Changes

In other local news, Starkville’s 929 Coffee Bar announced its relocation from its longstanding 106 E. Main St. premise. Although no further details regarding their new location have been disclosed, posted online updates have assured regular patrons that the grand reopening will be announced soon.

Meanwhile, The Breakfast Club is jubilantly returning to its home ground at 105 Eckford Drive. The popular eatery recently closed its Research Park location and upon reopening, will serve breakfast and lunch seven days a week.

Starkville will also bid farewell to The Joint, previously situated in Eckford Drive, as the restaurant is reportedly moving to the Ridgeland area in Jackson next summer.

Local Brand Goes Global

In the entertainment world, Starkville’s homegrown jewelry brand Xover0 is garnering attention for its upcoming Netflix feature debut. Joey King, starring in the film “Uglies,” is seen wearing a signature geohart pendant necklace crafted by the company. Co-founders Duane McLemore and Katherine Voorhies, who relocated their brand to Starkville in 2019, express their excitement for the international spotlight on their Mississippi craftsmanship.

West Coast Furniture Framers Plans Move to Starkville

In a significant development for Starkville’s business landscape, West Coast Furniture Framers has recently hinted at an upcoming location in the “Friendly City.” Owner Javier Galiana has bought the former American Trouser property at 605 17th St. S., and is now considering starting operations and hiring in the coming months. The company, established in Hesperia, California in 2017, transitioned to creating fully upholstered furniture post the 2022 closures of United Furniture Industries and Lane Furniture.

The business scene in Starkville continues to bustle and evolve, with new enterprises setting up shop and local favorites relocating or expanding.
