Columbus Police Respond to Auto Burglary Reports

Columbus, Mississippi, is buzzing with news after local law enforcement made an arrest related to several recent auto burglaries. Early on the morning of a Saturday, an alert community member spotted a suspicious individual behaving oddly in the parking lot of the La Quinta Inn & Suites. The individual appeared to be peeking into vehicles, raising alarms among guests and staff.

A Suspicious Encounter

At around 4:40 a.m., officers from the Columbus Police Department were dispatched to the scene. As they arrived, they quickly surveyed the area and noticed signs that multiple cars had been tampered with. Parking lot thefts can be a recurring issue, and the quick response by officers showcased their commitment to keeping the community safe.

Officers soon spotted a man who matched the description provided in the initial call. They approached him, and he was identified as Antonio J. Weston. As it turned out, Weston was not just looking at the vehicles but was involved in activities that indicated possible criminal intent.

Weston was taken into custody and is now facing multiple counts of auto burglary. Being arrested under such circumstances can be life-changing, and it’s important for community members to be aware of the implications of such actions—not just for the victim, but for the individual involved.
