Columbus is gearing up for some more cold nights and a sprinkle of frost in the coming days. It will be a good time to get cozy with blankets and hot cocoa because it’s about to get nippy!
Thursday night is shaping up to be another clear and chilly evening. As the sun dips below the horizon, temperatures are expected to drop into the middle 30s, signaling that winter is knocking at our door. Winds are expected to calm down a bit after sunset, making it feel a tad less frosty. Residents in western Alabama counties should take note that Lamar is under a Freeze Warning until 8 AM, while Pickens is experiencing a Frost Advisory until the same time.
Friday is forecasted to be the coldest day of the week and possibly the next several days. While winds will blow from the northwest at up to 15 mph, they might still make it feel chillier than the actual temperature. Highs will struggle to reach the middle 50s, even with plenty of sunshine. Lows are expected to dive into the lower 30s, near freezing.
The weekend brings a chance for frost both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Temperatures will gradually climb, nudging into the lower 60s by Saturday and creeping up to the middle to upper 60s by Sunday. Overnight temperatures will settle into the upper 40s to lower 50s, providing a slight relief as we start to feel more autumn warmth.
Next week looks promising, with lovely 70s expected to return by Monday. There’s a chance for some isolated showers on Tuesday, but overall, confidence in the forecast isn’t high. Umbrellas may be needed as there could be some potentially active weather around Wednesday or Thursday.
