Argument in Columbus Turns into an Aggravated Assault Case

A Dispute Turns Physical in Columbus

A disagreement escalated into an alarming instance of violence on the streets of Columbus, MS recently. Columbus Police Department has reported that an argument between two local residents transformed into an aggravated assault case on July 11th.

Details of the Incident

According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of 9th Avenue South, following a complaint of a disturbance in the location. Two individuals, namely Michael Tate and Jaquon Norwood, were engaged in a heated argument that soon turned physical.

As tempers flared and matters got out of hand, Norwood allegedly procured a knife during the altercation and attacked Tate, viciously slashing his right hand.

Upon arrival of police officers on the scene, Tate was found gravely injured, prompting swift transportation to Baptist Memorial Hospital for immediate medical attention. The victim was treated for his injury promptly and is currently in stable condition.

Legal Proceedings begin

Following this violent altercation, police arrested Norwood, charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The accused was subsequently taken to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.

In a substantial turn of events, Norwood’s bond was set at a whopping $100,000, clearly reflecting the seriousness of the crime committed. This incident highlights the alarming rise in violent instances stemming from arguments that quickly escalate into physical altercations.
