Starkville, MS – The energy in the air was electric as the Arkansas Razorbacks rolled into town and delivered a stunning performance against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. With a decisive score of 58-25, the Razorbacks improved their season record to 5-3, showcasing their offensive power and tenacious defense.
Arkansas kicked off the game with an explosive opening drive, setting the tone for what would be a memorable outing. Just on the second play of the game, Landon Jackson showcased his defensive skills with a quarterback sack that forced a fumble, which he also recovered. This gave quarterback Taylen Green and his offense prime real estate at the Mississippi State 23-yard line.
It didn’t take long for the Hogs to capitalize on that opportunity. On the very first set of downs, Green made his way through the Bulldog defense, scampering into the end zone for the game’s opening score, quickly putting Arkansas up 7-0.
However, the Bulldogs weren’t about to back down. On their subsequent drive, freshman quarterback Michael Van Buren connected with Davon Booth, who dashed 54 yards for a touchdown, evening the score at 7-7 with just under 12 minutes left in the first quarter.
After trading blows, Arkansas regained the lead with a 27-yard field goal from Matthew Shipley to make it 10-7. As the first quarter drew to a close, Green found Luke Hasz for a 14-yard TD on a crucial 4th & 1 play, pushing Arkansas ahead by a score of 17-7.
The second quarter was equally electric, as Green connected with Jordan Anthony for a 27-yard touchdown, marking Anthony’s first score of the season. Later, Green added another touchdown pass to Andreas Paaske, extending the Razorbacks’ lead to 31-10 at halftime.
The Razorbacks weren’t done yet. Shipley opened the second half with another field goal, giving Arkansas a comfortable 34-10 advantage. A huge defensive play led to a quick turnaround, with Arkansas forcing their second turnover of the day, resulting in Green finding Paaske again for a 7-yard touchdown pass, making the score 41-10.
But Mississippi State wasn’t ready to roll over. The Bulldogs managed to claw back into the game with back-to-back touchdowns, cutting the lead to 41-25. One of those scores followed an interception thrown by Green, but the Hogs kept their composure heading into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter saw Shipley once again extend the Razorbacks’ lead with a 29-yard field goal, increasing the score to 44-25. Following another forced fumble, Arkansas seized the opportunity with Green finding Hasz for another touchdown, pushing the score to 51-25.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Hogs struck again when Xavian Sorey intercepted a pass from Van Buren, setting up Rashod Dubinion for a quick 3-yard rushing touchdown. The game concluded with Arkansas on top by a resounding 58-25 victory.
