Charles Templeton Ragtime Music Festival

The Charles Templeton Ragtime Music Festival features seminars, major performances, and miniconcerts by world-renowned ragtime artists. The Templeton Music Museum offers tours of its enormous collection of sheet music, musical recordings, and mechanical music devices. Mississippi State University’s Mitchell Memorial Library and Lee Hall Auditorium hosted the event.

Cotton District Arts Festival and Taste of Starkville

This famous festival, presented by the Starkville Area Arts Council and named one of the top 25 events by the Southeastern Tourism Society, includes a juried art exhibit, arts and crafts, live music, cuisine from area restaurants, children’s activities, a 5k race, a pet parade, and a plant show. Every year, the celebration takes place in the Historic Cotton District.

Everything Garden Expo

The Everything Garden Expo is a celebration of the art of gardening, including seminars, professional horticulturalists talks, children’s programs, and exhibits by garden equipment and supply dealers. The Mississippi Horse Park and Agricenter is hosting the event, which is presented by the Oktibbeha County Master Gardeners.

International Fiesta

At the International Fiesta, you may learn about the numerous cultures represented in Starkville’s varied population. Taste the cuisine, view the foreign flags displayed along Main Street, join the dance, watch the cricket game, and be a part of the Global Neighbors Association’s and Holmes Cultural Diversity Center’s world celebration. The event was held on the Drill Field on the Mississippi State University campus.

Magnolia Independent Film Festival

The Magnolia Independent Film Festival, dubbed “The Mag” by locals, is Mississippi’s earliest and longest-running film festival. The Mag is noted for being a tiny, filmmaker-friendly festival that presents unusual, edgy, varied, and inspirational cinema to small-town Mississippi while also supporting local filmmakers and storytellers.


The festival’s 24th edition will be a combination of a drive-in and a virtual reality experience. The schedule features art from all around the world, ranging from drama to comedy, and narrative to documentary. Themag2021.eventive.org is now selling tickets for both the drive-in and virtual aspects of the event.
