Accelerated Law Degree Program Partnerships Announced by Four Mississippi Universities

With a primary aim to streamline the educational journey of their students, four Mississippi universities have recently announced embarking on partnerships that would pave the way for students to enroll in a fast-track law degree program. This groundbreaking program would enable students to obtain their law degrees within an impressive timeline of six years instead of the classic duration of seven.

The Accelerated Law Program: A Gateway to Quick Success

Known as the 3+3 Accelerated Law Program, this initiative allows students to trim a full year off the usual time required to earn both an undergraduate degree and a law degree through a strategic combination of undergraduate and law school study periods. This means that students enrolled in this program will spend three fulfilling years completing their undergraduate degrees at their university before transitioning into a law school’s dynamic Juris Doctor program for an additional three years.

Mississippi State University and Mississippi College Forge Partnership

In a recent revelation, it was announced that Mississippi State University and the Mississippi College School of Law had signed an agreement which would allow qualified students from MSU to step into the MC’s prestigious Juris Doctor program before fully completing their undergraduate degree at MSU. As per the established rules, MSU students who have crossed the threshold of 75% of required coursework for a bachelor’s degree will be eligible for admission to MC.

Successful completion of the first year of the J.D. program will result in MSU awarding the relevant bachelor’s degree. Once the requirements for the J.D. degree are met, the professional diploma will be awarded by MC.

A Mutual Agreement Beneficial for Students and Institutions Alike

MSU President Mark E. Keenum and MC President Blake Thompson jointly asserted their belief that this new accelerated pathway for prospective law students will not only benefit the students and institutions but indeed the entire state of Mississippi.

Partnership Between Jackson State University and University of Mississippi

Additionally, administrators from Jackson State University and the University of Mississippi School of Law revealed a similar partnership that will take JSU students on an expedited journey to a law career while significantly lightening the financial burden of continuing education. JSU students are given the opportunity to take off an entire year from their education by starting their law school course in the senior year.

Jackson State University leaders have not only hailed this program as a significant initiative but also called it a pathway to success and a bridge to the future for its students.
