Mississippi State Triumphs Over Middle Tennessee in Starkville Regional Tennis Match

In a riveting game of tennis at the Starkville Regional on May 4, Mississippi State emerged victorious against Middle Tennessee’s Blue Raiders. The impressive sweep saw the Bulldogs securing victory on celebrated turf, taking the Blue Raiders down 4-0 in a highly-anticipated second-round match.

Match Recap:

The Blue Raiders entered the game with a spirited fight, but the 15th-seeded Mississippi State side proved challenging to overcome. This was the third consecutive season that the Blue Raiders made it to the second round and only the fifth time in the program’s storied history. The match also marked the second year in a row that these two teams have met at this stage in the Starkville Regional.

The Bulldogs pulled an assertative lead by securing wins on both court No. 2 and No. 3 in the doubles category. In singles, Mississippi State won again on court No. 6, followed by the crucial wins on court No. 1 and No. 3 to complete the victory. Demis Taramonlis of the Blue Raiders proved to be a formidable opponent, having been up in the second game 5-3 before play stopped.

Likewise, Jakub Kroslak’s match on court No. 4 was left unfinished; the game was tied at 4-4 in the second set after he lost the first one.

Doubles Results:

An intense showdown between the duo of No. 28 Ondrej Horak and Leo Raquin of the Blue Raiders and Mississippi State’s No. 11 Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez was left unfinished with a score of 3-5.

Carles Hernandez and Dusan Milanovic of Mississippi State demonstrated superior teamwork and clinched victory against Javier Cueto Ramos and Marcel Kamrowski of the Blue Raiders with a score of 6-3. The doubles action continued with Nemanja Malesevic and Michal Novansky of MSU defeating Jakub Kroslak and Shu Matsuoka of MTSU, with a final score of 7-5.

Singles Results:

In the singles category, Mississippi’s No. 47 Nemanja Malesevic triumphed against MTSU’s No. 44 Leo Raquin securing a score of 6-4, 6-3. In other clashes, Mississippi triumphed again with Carles Hernandez defeating Ondrej Horak and Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes besting Javier Cueto Ramos, both by scores of 6-3, 6-3.

The Middle Tennessee men’s tennis team, despite their loss, continue to showcase remarkable sportsmanship and skill that has characterized their run in recent seasons. There’s no doubt that they will be back on the court with renewed strength and determination to leave their mark in future matches.
